GM Recalls Nearly 200,000 SUVs For Fire Risk
by schearerswpadmin June 17, 2013July 17, 2013—General Motors issued a recall Friday for several models of SUVs, citing a fire risk caused by an issue with corrosion in the driver’s door module.
A total of 193,652 vehicles are involved in the recall. This includes certain models of the 2006 Chevrolet Trailblazer EXT and GMC Envoy XL, as well as 2006-2007 Chevrolet Trailblazer, GMC Envoy, Buick Rainier, SAAB 9-7x, and Isuzu Ascender vehicles.
The problem stems from fluid entering the driver’s door module, potentially causing a short in the module’s circuit board. The short can cause issues with the power lock and power window switches, and lead to potential overheating, causing components to melt, smoke or set on fire.
GM will contact all vehicle owners and ask that they have their vehicles tested by local, authorized dealers.
The recall is set to begin July 24.
