“Quick Lube” Oil Changes
by schearerswpadmin March 21, 2014Who is changing the oil on your vehicle? This is just one example of the things we see coming out of the “Quick Lube” service centers. The filter on the right is the correct German filter for a VW Jetta and the filter on the left is what we removed. The incorrect oil filter was installed and leaked. So instead of the “Quick Lube” Tech installing the proper filter, they decided to tighten the filter until it stopped leaking. This in turn caused additional damage to the expensive engine oil cooler! Luckily, we wear able to catch this before major engine damage occurred! Poor leadership and training in these “Quick Lube” service centers trickles down and unfortunately ends up costing you, the vehicle owner, a lot more than you thought for that cheap or sometimes free oil change!
